Explore the arctic wilderness and see the Northern Lights all night long!
Our center is located 25 minutes away from Tromsø and the city lights, under a dark night sky which is perfect for watching the Aurora. Upon arrival at our campsite, we will give you a tour of our dog yard, where you will get to meet and cuddle our 200 huskies. From the puppy cages to the seniors, we will visit each station of a sled dog’s life and tell you all about our favourite sport. Cuddling is highly encouraged!
Then dinner is served around an open fire in our cosy Gamme-hut. Try Bidos (Sami reindeer stew) made from regional produce (vegetarian option is available upon preliminary request) and a piece of our signature chocolate cake. While you eat, your guide will keep a close eye on the sky outside and inform you about any Aurora activity. There will be a bonfire where you can sit under the stars and look for the northern lights for as long as you like. You will spend the night just as the Sami people have done for generations – on reindeer skins around an open fire in our Lavvo-Tent.
In the morning after delicious breakfast, we get our four-legged hiking buddies and set out into the wilderness. Our Alaskan huskies are strong and trained to pull – you will not have to hold the leash for the whole duration of the trek but be prepared for some exercise! Usually, we give 1 Husky for 2-3 guests. You will still develop a close bond with “your” Husky, especially since we need your help with training them for the next sledding season!
Back the campsite, Bacalao, a traditional Norwegian fish stew will be served and after saying goodbye to the dogs, we will bring you back to Tromsø.
